I chose The Who as the background music for the video. While I was deployed, I listened to music constantly, and The Who provided me lots of energy to get through the days!

Connecting with Home

Skyping with DaddyTonight, I had a chance to Skype with my son. He’s almost two years old, and he’s grown so much since I’ve been gone. He doesn’t even look the same.

Well, my wife tells me that she is always showing him my picture and telling him that I’m his daddy.

Out to Sea

YouTube - Out to SeaPreviously, I mentioned how much I wanted to take the admiral’s vessel out on the lake near my office.  Just my luck, I happened to have my camera on me when the admiral spontaneously decided to go for a row.

As you’ll recall, the boat was literally a tiny row boat that was found somewhere on Victory Base Complex (formerly Saddam Hussein’s compound). It was brought back to our pier where it has languished until someone dared test its seaworthiness.

The Bird is the Word

The Bird is the WordI mentioned this briefly the other day in my “Bird on a Wire” post. Birds are not what you would consider smart — well, except for that chicken that plays tic-tac-toe with you (and generally wins).

Case in point… this bird, which allowed me to walk right up to it, is not very smart. As you can see in the video, it seems to find much pleasure in chasing its own tail.

YouTube - On the LinksMy Tiger Woods Baghdad Classic entry was very popular when I posted it.  I thought I would offer a short video of some folks hitting golf balls towards Uday and Qusay’s houses. It also gives me a chance to figure out how to post videos on this new blog system.  I’m starting to dig this WordPress thing.

Since I don’t usually post on Tuesdays (that wasn’t intentional but has turned out that way), I thought this would be a good little thing to hold you over!
