Tomorrow morning, I fly out to Fort Dix, N.J. to attend the Advanced Contingency Skills Training at the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center.
I’ve been joking that New Jersey is a lot like Baghdad except that it’s more likely I’ll get shot in New Jersey. Some people tell me that’s true.
I’ll be offline for roughly the next three weeks. Until then, visit the Expeditionary Center’s website to see what they are all about!
It’s been a few weeks since I blogged. In that time, I’ve finalized my travel arrangements for ACST, and today I completed my gun qualifications.
I qualified on two weapons today. The M9 Beretta is my primary service weapon, so that was mandatory. The other was the M16A2, which I only had to qualify on so that I could go to ACST.
For whatever reason, every person who goes through this ACST training must qualify on the M16 whether or not that is the weapon they deploy with. Sounds dumb, right? That’s because it is.
The results today? I shot expert on both the M16 and M9. I totally can shoot people now.
